New DLP Narrative Explanation

The format for the DLP narrative will change on the next one. You will be writing paragraphs on respect and disrespect, on what went well and what could have gone better, and on the people who inspired you in an online survey that you can access on the internet. This information will be due on Sunday nights at 8:00. I will download your responses, print out a formatted version, and read the praise paragraphs as usual on Mondays. I will also post the results of the survey for you to read at your leisure and inclination. I have been doing this with another class, and it seems to be working well.

You can access the class page with information on it at the quia.com website. I will need your email addresses before I can create the page and roster.

The new DLP's will consist of the weekly work stapled to an essay as before, but the essay will be different. I want you to write an essay on what you learned and thought about during the time covered in the DLP. It will be an extended learning paragraph detailing ideas that you want to develop  from the readings and from the discussions. You may also comment on personal growth in self knowledge, knowledge of others in the class, use of knowledge, communication and problem-soving.

I expect the essay to be clear in what you learned and thought about, specific in where, when and how you learned them and complete in proving that learning. I will be giving you time in class to reflect on what you are learning and thinking about each day to help with the transition to this format. You can and perhaps should also take notes on what people say in discussions and on the readings to help you reflect on the content we are covering.

Hopefully this change will enable you to learn even more and make our discussions even better.
