Grades will be determined as follows:
Papers that score below 80 percent will need to be rewritten and resubmitted with the original paper. These papers can achieve grades above B- based upon their final quality. Papers that are evaluated as at or above B- can be rewritten for a higher grade. Papers will be weighted based upon their difficulty.
Attendance is critical in a discussion or lecture class. Students who miss class may be able to make up work done in class, but they cannot make up for their lack of participation in discussions and activities. The ConVal administration has directed all teachers to give an attendance grade based upon each teacherŐs class and curriculum. In this class, all students will start with a 100% attendance grade. Each absence after the first two results in 10 points from the 100% grade. All tardiness to class will count as 3 points. While this may seem Draconian to some, it emphasizes that attendance counts and tardiness interrupts the class. Also, each 10 point attendance grade below the studentŐs average will cause that average to be reduced by 1 point. If you have a 95 grade average, an 85 attendance average will lower your average to 94; a 75 to 93; a 65 to 92; and so forth.
Class preparation and participation will be evaluated twice a grading period.
Documentations of Learning will be graded the same as papers and the same rules will apply. DLP's
evaluated as less than minimal quality (B-) will need to be rewritten and
resubmitted. DLP's that are evaluated at B- or above originally can be rewritten
for increased quality and grade.
