Philosophy students should be careful to keep all homework, especially those that are stamped. Every two weeks or so students will need to complete a Documentation of Learning Portfolio (DLP). This portfolio contains the following:

 

Each homework assignment (usually a pithy quote) should be titled and dated and collated in order of the date. In front of the collated homework should be the Philosophical Inquiry Essay. This original and creative essay should be written for the DLP in which it will appear. It should be placed before the homework in the DLP portfolio.

 

The Philosophical Inquiry Essay is an essay which pursues and explores a concept, issue or discussion point from the class during the DLP timeline. The topic is governed by the student and based upon his interests. It should meet the following quality standards:

 

  • It should be work processed.
  • It should pursue and explore a philosophical concept, issue or discussion point from class.
  • It should reflect thought and sincerity.
  • It should clearly reference the source of the inquiryÕs subject.

 

The Portfolio should also have a cover supplied online that clearly indicates its contents and their order.
